Chawa View Deck Point
Charming. Peaceful. Natural wonders. South Batan.
We decided to take the South instead of North on our first day and honestly, it was really overwhelming.  From its amazing views of the mountains and cliffs, the clear blue skies and the roaring waves kissing the rocky shore, stunning historical man-made wonders, perfect natural panoramas, absolute warm welcome of the people and most importantly, tasting their authentic cuisine, understanding and embracing this one of a kind cultural experience.

South Batan is one of the loveliest place in Batanes where you’ll find anything and everything you love. You can explore the whole South in a day tour covering 3 municipalities of Uyugan, Ivana and Mahatao. Our tour started at 9:30 AM and covers Chawa View Point Deck, Marlboro Hills, Tayid Lighthouse, San Carlos Boromeo Church, San Lorenzo Ruiz Chapel, Honesty Store, House of Dakay and the White Beach and Hohmoron Blue Lagoon.

Travel itineraries is inclusive as part of the package of our homestay, Wakay Hostel.

Chawa View Point Deck
Deep turquoise water. Mountains and cliffs. Exquisite. Picturesque. Almost every turn has an amazing view your eyes shouldn’t miss. Be careful and make sure to ask for your tour guide when using the stairs down the hills.
Marlboro Hills
Windy hills. Green meadows. Amazing landscapes. Carabao. Goats. The most photographed part of South Batan. You can release whatever you have there in your heart. You can shout it out. The wind can blow it away.
Tayid Lighthouse
Lighthouse was built to guide ships and seafarers. One of the most famous spots in Batanes rests at the side of the biggest body of water, the Pacific Ocean. From here, you can sight a view of Mt. Iraya, a dormant volcano and the highest peak of Batanes.

San Carlos Boromeo Church
Named as one of the National Cultural Treasure by the National Museum of the Philippines. Its beauty and exceptional structure captivate every visitors. One unique features’ is the library where you can find and write your experience in Batanes and your wishes too. I did not hesitate to do so!

San Lorenzo Ruiz Chapel
Simple. Humble. Modest. Named after Philippines first saint, San Lorenzo Ruiz. Feast is celebrated every 28th of September which was happened to be my birthday.
Honesty Store
Honesty is the best policy. Talked of town and surely one of the unique cultural identification of Ivatan. When it's impossible in Manila, Batanes made it possible. You can buy coffee, bread, cola, souvenirs and shirts.
The House of Dakay
Elegant. Resilient. Antique. Constructed back in 1800s, the house still exists up to this date. Surviving a decade of typhoons and calamities that hits the province. Truly a strong representation of being resilient, not just by Ivatans but us as a Filipino.
White Beach and Hohmoron Blue Lagoon
The place where you can enjoy the beach. Relaxing. Calm. And perfect for meditation.
There’s no entrance fee in the area, no life guards and a few nipa hut (bahay kuno) to rests while enjoying the waves and a sunset perhaps.
I'm just an occasional blogger and a travel enthusiast. We paid for our expenses and we plan this trip.
Just sharing what we've got in the short but worthwhile journey in one of the loveliest places on Earth.
